The Snowman Tour with Live Orchestra – The Winding Wheel, Chesterfield

The Snowman Tour with Live Orchestra – The Winding Wheel, Chesterfield

As some of you may already know, this year we marked the beginning of our festive season with a trip to see The Snowman Tour Live! Hubs, the girls and I donned our glad rags and headed over to The Winding Wheel , Chesterfield to experience the classic Snowman, accompanied by a live orchestra. Also showing was A Donkey’s Tale. To say we were excited was an understatement!

Both of our girls are very excited for Christmas this year, they are at an age where they understand the traditions and can’t wait for Santa to arrive. I knew that this year they would be so taken with the animations on the big screen and with the live orchestra. The biggest especially was in absolute awe!

A Donkey’s Tale –

After a very entertaining introduction of each instruments in the orchestra, A Donkey’s Tale was projected onto the big screen. This is a story about a very lovable and  musical donkey who dreams of making it big. It turns out that his talents lie in dancing rather than making music, which all materialises after an exciting journey that both girls were captivated by!

Last year we saw The Bear and the Piano which we all adored, so we were curious as to whether A Donkey’s Tale would hit the spot. It really did and the girls were still talking about the dancing donkey when we got home!

The Snowman –

I love The Snowman, so I was very excited to find out if the girls would love it as much now they’re a little older. From start to finish the girls were glued to the screen! They watched with amazement, they laughed and they cried. It was such a magical night that each and everyone of us loved!

I couldn’t have wished for a better way to begin our festive season. Especially as during the interval we were visited by The Snowman himself! The girls couldn’t believe their eyes as the life size Snowman made his way around the aisles, dancing and waving on his way. This went down an absolute treat!

For the second year in a row, we had a fantastic night at The Snowman Tour. The girls’ better understanding of the show and the time of year made our night so magical. We’ll definitely be back to see The Snowman next year, it really is the perfect way to kick off the Christmas season!

The Snowman Tour 2017 – A Season to Remember

The Snowman Tour 2017 – A Season to Remember

With the nights drawing in and the temperatures dropping, Autumn is well and truly setting in. As much as I’ll miss the Summer months, there’s so much to look forward to in the colder seasons. I love hearing leaves crunching underfoot, seeing beautiful Autumn colours and as we head into Winter there’s Christmas!

Ever since we had children, Christmas has become even more magical. I’m already excited for how much fun we’re going to have as a family. One of my favourite things to do around Christmas time is indulge myself in seasonal TV, December just wouldn’t be the same without watching all of the classic Christmas movies. My absolute favourite is The Snowman. I’ve watched it for as long as I can remember and last year, for the first time, we all sat down together as a family to enjoy the classic Christmas tale!

This year however, we’re going to step it up a notch, after I recently found out about The Snowman Tour from Carrot Productions. I decided that visiting one of the many venues to see this amazing show, would be ideal way to kick off our festive season. When I checked the dates for our local venue I noticed that some were already sold out!

The Snowman animation that we all know and love will be shown on a big screen, but the beauty of this show is that the traditional tale will be accompanied by a live orchestra. Thinking about how amazing the atmosphere will be already sends shivers down my spine, it will be such a treat for us to witness their amazing talent!

Depending on the venue you decide to visit, you’ll also be treated to ‘The Bear and the Piano’ with recorded narration by Joanna Lumley,  ‘The Nutcracker’ animation by Tom Scott or even ‘Cinderella’. We’re so excited to see ‘The Bear and the Piano’, it’s something I’ve never seen before so it will be new and exciting for me and the kids!

The festive season just can’t come around quickly enough now that our girls are a little older. We have so much to look forward to and so many happy memories to make. I know The Snowman Tour is something we’ll never forget!

*We were given tickets to see The Snowman in exchange for this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
