Dating these days can be so much fun! You don’t just have to go out for a meal or head to the cinema. There are loads of different ways to meet new people and to hopefully find love. You can head out to do a spot of speed dating or you might fancy using a free dating site to find that special someone. It might even be that you meet people through mutual friends, now that’s free dating at it’s finest! However you choose to meet new people though, you need to make sure that you know how to stay safe on a date.
Now the chances are that you’ll never have a problem when you’re meeting new people. Most individuals make good company and are heading out on dates for the same reason as you, to meet new people! Every now and again though, you might come across someone who isn’t who you thought they were. This is when you have to know what to do and how to keep yourself safe.
Here are three ways to stay safe on a date;
Remember to #AskforAngela –
The #AskForAngela campaign was originally launched by Lincolnshire county council. Its aim is to make sure that individuals on dates have an easy escape from the person they’re meeting, should they need to. The main concept of #AskforAngela, is that if you feel uncomfortable when you’re out on a date, then all you have to do is go to the bar and ‘ask for Angela’. The staff will then know that you feel threatened or unsafe and will do everything in their power to help you. The staff are able to contact your family for you, to let them know that you need a little help. They can call a taxi to get you home, or they can ask the person causing you to feel this way to leave the venue.
Make sure someone knows where you are going and who you are with –
One of the best ways to keep yourself safe on a date, is to make sure that someone else knows where you are at all times. You might want to text them every now and again, to let them know where you are and if things are going OK. You might even want to give them a few details about the person you are with, so they can hep you out if they need to. The chances are that you won’t ever need any help, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Tell someone where you are and who you are with!
Don’t do anything that you don’t feel comfortable with –
Sometimes when we meet new people we ignore our instincts a little, mistaking them for nerves. This is something that you should never do! If your gut is telling you that something isn’t quite right, or that you feel uneasy with any situation, then you need to take a step back. The people who really care for you will never make you do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. So if your date is, then it’s probably time to say goodbye!
