Everybody wants to have a nice garden, but not everybody wants to put the work in. Some people love gardening and they don’t mind spending their Sunday afternoons getting their hands dirty planting flowers and watering their lawn. But for a lot of people, that sounds like their idea of hell. If you hate gardening, it becomes a bit of a chore because you can’t just leave the garden to get overgrown. Luckily, gardening doesn’t have to be that difficult if you know these simple tricks.

Artificial Grass

Looking after your lawn is one of the most time consuming parts of looking after the garden. It needs constant feeding, mowing, and watering and you’ll have to deal with bald spots and brown patches. But you can get around all of that with artificial grass. Most people picture cheap, plastic looking grass when they think of artificial grass but there are actually lots of great options out there. Companies like LazyLawn can install some great artificial grass that looks just as good as the real thing. You get the best of both worlds because you’ve got a nice looking lawn but you don’t have to spend any time looking after it.

Self Watering Plants

It’s great to have a lot of nice plants around the garden, but watering them is a bit of a pain. Luckily, there are some great little gadgets that you can buy that will do all of the hard work for you. You can fill them with water and then put them into the soil and they will slowly release water as the soil starts to dry out. That way, you only need to fill them up every now and again and you can make sure that your plants are always getting watered properly.

Perennials

If you have to plant everything in the garden every year, you’re going to spend a lot of time working on it. That’s why perennials are so great. They’re plants that come back year after year without having to replant them. Once they’re in, as long as they’re looked after properly, they’ll die off for a while during the winter and then come back next summer.

Mulch

Weeding has got to be the worst job in the garden. Getting on your hands and knees and pulling all of the weeds out takes ages and it’s backbreaking work. But there are some simple things that you can do to stop them from turning up in the first place. A good quality weedkiller is great for any patio or gravel areas but you can’t put it anywhere where there are other plants that you don’t want to kill. The best way to deal with weeds in those areas is to use mulch. Get some wood chips or pine needles and put those over the soil in the area, that will stop most weeds coming through.

Being a lazy gardener doesn’t mean that you can’t have a great looking garden, just use these simple tricks and you can have the best of both worlds.
