Every town and city has attractions that draw in visitors on a daily basis. Tourists come and go, to see the what amazing spectacles different areas have to offer. Living in areas of interest can be so much better than just visiting though. One of the best things about knowing an area like the back of your hand, is that you get to know all of the hidden gems that surround you! If you do need to find out more about an area however, there are always services like PCA Predict Address Verification.
A place that is so close to my heart is Manchester. Yes there are popular attractions such as Old Trafford and the Museum of Science and Industry, both of which are places worthy of you paying a visit next time you’re in the North! There are however, places that are less well know but will offer value, education and culture should you wish to venture away from the obvious!
I love Manchester and because of my #PostcodePride, I thought I’d share with you a couple of my favourite hidden gems in the city!
Now don’t get me wrong I love Manchester for the city lights, shopping, bars and restaurants and if you’re visiting for the day then these should definitely be on the top of your priority list. I however, love noting better than venturing out of the centre and to find a peace and quiet in the tranquil Walkden Gardens. A lot of people aren’t even aware that this place exists, but if you’ve had enough of the hustle and bustle of the city, this place is perfect to take the weight off of your feet.
The garden has many different areas including a fuchsia garden and a conifer garden, my absolute favourite though is the cherry walk. The tree lined, wooded path is exceptionally relaxing and if you go at the right time of the year you’ll also be surrounded by pretty bluebells, bliss!
There have been many times over the years where these gardens have offered a place to rest, think and reflect on life, they’ll always hold a special place in my heart!
The Portico Library
In my opinion, The Portico Library is one of the most amazing things about Manchester. It’s so well hidden though, that a lot of the locals don’t know it exists never mind those visiting! Even if you’re not an avid reader, this library is worth visiting just take in how amazing it looks. The majority of the books kept here are from the 19th century and as such are more for the researchers among us. This place does have a lovely little cafe that you can sit an relax in though, as you sit soak up the history.
I love heading to The Portico Library to hide away from the stresses of city life, sometimes it’s nice to take a bit of time out and this is the perfect place to do so!
Manchester will always hold a special place in my heart, there are so many amazing things to see and do that are off of the beaten track!
