We all know and love the classic Christmas tale ‘The Night Before Christmas’. It’s a staple in our house on Christmas Eve, as our children snuggle up in bed to wait for Santa to visit!
The original has always been a firm favourite of mine, so when we were offered the chance to review an adapted version I couldn’t wait to get reading.
This version by Rose Collins, is a beautifully illustrated picture book. On Christmas Eve Santa visits a family of bears, taking them their Christmas presents, whilst taking the reader on a magical Christmas journey.
Immediately on opening the book using the Kindle app, we were greeted with a bright and colourful front cover. This caught the eye of my eldest straight away. Being interested from the outset is a positive start!
The narration throughout the book follows the traditional wording, which really gets you into the Christmas spirit. With the festive season fast approaching, it’s hard not to feel a little bit merry as we sit and read this book!
I think it’s so easy for the magic of a story to get lost behind a screen. For this reason, I believe that teaching our children to read an actual book is very important. Having said that, this eBook is successful in creating magic without the physical presence of a book. Baby J loved being able ‘turn’ the page herself which also made it fun for her.
Overall, we found this to be a lovely little read. The illustrations are beautifully enchanting and the magic of Christmas oozes out of every page. If you and your family are eBook friendly, this one is definitely worth a look!
