Dear Diary: This Week I Turn 26

Facebooktwitterpinterestinstagram

This week I turn 26.  My birthday is my absolute favourite time of the year.  I still get excited about it and love waking up knowing I’m going to spend the day exactly as I please!

Prior to having children I would have a ‘birthday week’.  This was literally an excuse to enjoy a whole weeks worth of celebrations.  We would do something special each day: trips, eating out and other little treats along the way.

Now that I have Baby J and Little E, we are back to celebrating on my actual birthday, ‘birthday week’ was never going to last was it?  Boo!  Since Hubs left teaching and now has holiday leave to play with, he makes sure all of our birthdays are booked off.  This year, we are heading over to our nearest Christmas market, I’m so excited!

As becoming 26 fast approaches, I’ve stepped back and gandered at my little life.   It’s human nature to look at others and feel the odd pang of envy.  It’s normal to have that fleeting feeling that someone else’s grass is a whole lot greener.  But when rationality kicks in, I realise that we are all in the same boat.  Ultimately we are all working towards the same thing.  To keep our families happy and healthy, whilst enjoying it as much as we can along the way.

If I’d have been told that by the age of 26 I would be a wife and SAHM, I wouldn’t have believed it.  Nevermind that I’d would give up my business entirely and have our children so close together.  It definitely wouldn’t have occurred to me that I’d take to my keyboard to blog my way through it. Sometimes life doesn’t pan out how we imagined it would, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

At 26, I feel lucky.  I feel fulfilled (nearly, I’m only human!) and I feel humbled.  All Hubs and I have to do is stick at it and work together to keep it that way…happy birthday to me!

Happy birthday! Yes life certainly doesn’t pan out how you expect, but it’s nice that you can appreciate what you have. We adapt to what is going on and we create joy in whatever circumstances we’re given. #MarvMondays

Have a very happy Birthday! I sort of have a Birthday week, at least a week of celebrations still as my Birthday is just after Christmas and my daughter is always with her dad from boxing day to new years day so I have it alone! Best of both worlds! #MarvMondays

Happy birthday! I know what you mean about expecting you’re life to go a certain way. I always imagined I would be settled down by 22 and then start to have my 4 children but the way it’s going it seems that I will have had all 4 by the time I’m 22 with an amazing career. Plan is slightly back to front now but I’m glad I will still be young enough when my children are old enough for me to figure out my career path and go back to college later on in life 🙂 Maybe not what I had planned but it’s definitely not a bad thing! #MarvMondays

Not a bad thing at all! It sounds like even though things changed a little you now have a plan, thanks for stopping by! x

Happy Birthday! I too love my birthday. Unfortunately it’s only 9 days after Christmas which is a really miserable time of year. I don’t get spoiled too much anymore, such is life. I’m moving on to spoiling my little boy instead! #stayclassymama
