Crafts are not my thing. Sometimes I feel like they should be, so i try really hard to make it happen. This usually ends up in a stressed out mummy who has to call in super dad to save the day. There isn’t much my husband can’t turn his hand to. I find it an attraction whilst at the same time infuriating!
However, super dad hung up his cloak this week as we made our very own play dough – and I nailed it! The recipe is super simple. It took two minutes to throw together and it got us through until nap time, on a miserable rainy morning.
Here’s what you need:
- A small cup
- Plain or self-raising flour
- Oil – vegetable/sunflower
- Hot water
- Add two cups of flour to the bowl
- Add one cup of salt
- Throw in two tablespoons of oil
- Add one cup of hot water
- Mix, mix, mix until you get a nice doughy ball of fun!
That really is it! As this was my first attempt and I hadn’t expected it to go well, I didn’t add any glitter/colour/frangrance to the mix. If you do want to add some though, pop it in when the mixture is still gooey. This will help it spread evenly throughout the dough.
